Our sources in the great southern city of Umbar Baharbêl report seeing a strange creature journeying around with a band of rag-tag adventurers. Although the group has been helping the Kindred of the Coins repair the City, and they have ventured even to Umbar-môkh, nevertheless several residents report strange symptoms after seeing this small creature.
“It seemed short like a monkey, but much stouter than a monkey,” stated Kavíra, a woman of Jadambor in Umbar-môkh. “In fact, the belly on it was quite prominent!”
“But the odor that wafted from it made me faint, and gave me a headache AND a stomachache!” she added. “Northerners are known for their lack of personal hygiene, but this pet of theirs really could use a week in one of our public baths.”
Our sources pointed out to her that the “creature” might have been a halfling, whose usefulness on adventures has recently become quite evident.
After some reflection, Kavíra conceded that it might have been a halfling, but remarked, “Visitors to Umbar Baharbêl should take care to observe our bathing customs, even if they have come to help us.”
